'Like many, the holidays are a favorite time of the year. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas. And Disney does a great job of celebrating them. But just when we think they’re over, we get to celebrate one of my favorite times of year in January. Today, we’re going to celebrate Lunar New Year with some amazing food and some amazing shows. Ian, Ronnie, and I made our way to the Lunar New Year festival area, beginning just outside Ariels Undersea Adventure. The four Food and Wine style booths from last year returned. Longevity Noodle Company Lucky 8 Lantern Prosperity Bao & Buns Red Dragon Spice Traders But before we eat, we had a great opportunity to catch the dragon dance out in front of Paradise Gardens. I’ve been watching this show every year at Lunar New Year, and always a great time. This time I was able to get some great shots of the dragons nuzzling guests surrounding the show. Lunch time, and as much as I wanted to try all the food at the kiosks, we settled on lunch at perhaps the best restaurant in DCA. Paradise Garden Grill. Ian got the Banh Mi, while Ronnie and I both enjoyed the Korean Grilled chicken. Thumbs up from all on both dishes. I love the Banh Mi, and I loved the grilled chicken as well. After lunch we did a little shopping that festival marketplace. I was astonished at how packed that little both was. There was an incredibly long line of guests making purchases. Couldn’t believe it. I guess people really responded to the Longevity Noodle Company hat. Though I suspect most of the people we saw in line were buying the limited edition pins. Our last stop for the day was to catch the Lunar New Year procession. And again, like the Dragon Dance, it gets better every year, because every year I feel like I notice or appreciate more of the show. It’s a lot of fun and I suggest everyone take a few minutes to catch it this year.
